University Politehnica of Bucharest

University Politehnica of Bucharest

The scientific team of the University Politehnica of Bucharest is involved in research and development in the field of design and testing of ICE (Internal Combustion Engines), automotive design and testing, hybrid vehicles, NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), tyre-road interaction, measurement and instrumentation, motor vehicle safety, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), computer simulation and analysis, automotive reliability and diagnosis, automotive structural analysis. Our expertise in the field of ICE has been accumulated in more than 40 years of engine design and testing. It includes kinematical analysis and dynamic investigation of engine mechanisms, study of thermodynamic cycles, calculation of power, torque and efficiency, research of ICE auxiliary systems, design of engine components. Experimental research of ICE consists of measurement of energetic, consumption and pollution parameters. Particular attention is given to engine and exhaust NVH.

Loughborough University

Loughborough University

The scientific team of the Loughborough University Automotive Engineering department (LU) has a national and international reputation for powertrain research and has the longest standing Automotive Degree programme in the UK. Powertrain research areas include: combustion kinetics, modelling of engine in-cylinder flows, heat transfer, friction and tribology, fuel catalytic processing; fuel spray research, optical techniques for studying complex flow processes, use of advanced materials (e.g. ceramics) and control systems. The Powertrain facilities consist of eight purpose built engine test cells including four Froude dynamometers, a Ricardo-Schenk transient dynamometer and an Horiba emissions gas analyser.

Infineon Technologies

Infineon Technologies

Infineon offers semiconductor and system solutions addressing three central challenges to modern society: Energy Efficiency, Mobility, and Security. Infineon has been firmly committed to the automotive and power industries for over 35 years and has established a proven track record. Offering one of the broadest product portfolios in the business, Infineon is the worldwide number one power semiconductor supplier and is number two in automotive. In the automotive sector, the company's product range includes power semiconductors, discrete semiconductors, silicon sensors and optoelectronic semiconductors as well as microcontrollers. Infineon automotive products target automobile electronics applications such as powertrain, electric drivetrain, comfort management (e.g. lighting and air conditioning), safety management (e.g. anti-locking systems, airbags, stability control) and infotainment. Recent market figures show that half of all new cars contain ECUs based on Infineon's TriCore microcontroller, more than 100 million units of which have been sold to date worldwide.

The Engine Consultancy

The Engine Consultancy

The Engine Consultancy Limited (TEC) provides impartial, independent and accurate advice, technical services and commercial services to engine manufacturers, users and suppliers in areas such as new engine development, engine up-rating, engine performance improvement (emission and fuel economy in particular) and problem solution for in-service failures. Members of the TEC team have many years of experience of working with major international bodies like EUROMOT, CIMAC, UIC and IMechE and have served as partner project managers and EU funded assessors on EU funded projects for the improvement of diesel engine emissions, for example Endure, Facsimile and Toolshed.

Productiv Ltd

Productiv Ltd.

Productiv bridges the gap between small enterprises developing leading edge low carbon technology and large vehicle manufacturers.

Productiv specialises in the industrialisation of innovative low carbon technologies, enabling new technology developers to enter the supply chain of large companies. The initial focus of Productiv is automotive: an industry dominated by multinational vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and their equally large Tier 1 suppliers. By supporting SME technology developers with automotive standard industrialisation processes and production facilities, Productiv enables the technology developers to access OEM supply contracts without losing control of their Intellectual Property too early. Visibility of industrialisation routes and costs is essential to the exploitation of new technologies because it provides customers with the confidence to specify the technology in their future vehicle programmes. Productiv and its growing staff have been involved in multiple collaborative technology projects, including those supported by the Technology Strategy Board such as BEST and PURE with MIRA. Productiv brings the experience and credibility of having developed the business model for the Proving Factory over the last two years and the support it has gained throughout the industry, including from the Automotive Council, SMMT and Carbon Trust.
